The IDF, through spokesperson Avichay Adraee, stated that the warning reflects "significant operational risks” posed by Hezbollah in this sector of the eastern Mediterranean and emphasized that Israeli forces may target vessels if they enter the designated zone. The announcement came amid growing tensions on Israel’s northern front, highlighting concerns over the safety of civilian maritime traffic.

"This is not a routine advisory; ships must immediately follow instructions and avoid the southern Tyre-Rosh Hanikra corridor,” Adraee said during a press briefing. The military alert underscores Israel’s increased vigilance along its northern maritime borders, which have seen sporadic escalations in recent months.

Local residents and commercial operators reported noticeable changes in maritime activity following the warning. Kassem Darwish, a harbor pilot in Tyre, said, "Cargo vessels are rerouting north, and fishing boats remain close to shore. People here are anxious because the sea is usually busy, and today it is eerily quiet.” 

An international ship captain, Barbara Kostova, confirmed that coastal authorities instructed her vessel to divert northward due to the military advisory. Observers reported increased naval patrols in the area, with drones and patrol boats closely monitoring the zone.

The maritime warning coincides with broader Israeli military operations targeting Iranian interests. Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir, chief of the Israeli General Staff, said on Tuesday that Israel is approaching a "strategic inflection point” in its campaign against Iran and its regional proxies, including Hezbollah. 

"We have achieved significant progress, including in objectives set at the outset of these operations,” Zamir said, highlighting the military’s ongoing campaign.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu added that Israel had targeted railways and bridges in Iran used by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). 

"We are dismantling Iran’s terrorist infrastructure with increasing precision,” Netanyahu said in a recorded statement. He also cited attacks on transport aircraft and dozens of helicopters, reflecting Israel’s expanded operational scope beyond Lebanon.

Iranian officials confirmed that at least two bridges, sections of railway infrastructure, and a major roadway sustained damage due to Israeli strikes. Residents of Kharg Island, a strategic oil-export hub in southwestern Iran, reported multiple explosions, indicating coordinated attacks by Israeli and possibly U.S. forces. Analysts note that these strikes aim to degrade Iran’s logistical capabilities and limit its ability to support regional allies such as Hezbollah.

In Lebanon, Hezbollah-affiliated lawmaker Hassan Fadlallah condemned the maritime warning as part of a broader strategy undermining civilian safety and sovereignty. "Targeting ships and infrastructure risks escalating conflict with neutral parties in the region,” he said. UNIFIL representatives also expressed concern, noting that operations near civilian zones could inadvertently provoke retaliation and further destabilize the maritime frontier.

The southern Lebanese coast remains a crucial corridor for commercial and civilian shipping, and the IDF’s warning highlights the integration of land, sea, and air operations in Israel’s broader regional strategy. 

Analysts caution that disruptions to shipping lanes could have economic implications beyond the region and signal the potential for a broader escalation. With tensions rising along the Lebanon-Israel border and attacks extending into Iranian territory, the situation remains volatile, requiring close monitoring by maritime operators, diplomats, and regional security observers.
