Masagawaay (Lamaane.net) – Somalia Police Commissioner Brig. Gen. Asad Osman Abdullahi on Tuesday, July 7, laid the foundation stone for a new police station in Masagawaay, Galgadud region, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen security and expand government services in the area.
The new police station will provide a permanent base for officers serving Masagawaay and surrounding communities, improving law enforcement, emergency response, and coordination between security agencies and local residents.
Speaking at the ceremony, Brig. Gen. Asad Osman Abdullahi said officers assigned to the station would work to protect civilians, maintain public order, and prevent activities that threaten security. He called on residents to cooperate with security agencies by sharing information that could help preserve peace and stability.
"The officers deployed here will serve the community, protect lives and property, and uphold the rule of law through close cooperation with the public," the police commissioner said.
Following the groundbreaking ceremony, the commissioner visited the Independent National Electoral and Boundaries Commission's voter registration center in Masagawaay, where election officials briefed him on the progress of the ongoing voter registration exercise.
Officials told Lamaane News Network that the project is part of broader government efforts to strengthen civilian institutions in areas recovered from the militant group Al-Shabaab. The station is expected to enhance public safety, improve police services, and support the restoration of government authority in the district.
Masagawaay remains a strategic location in Somalia's stabilization efforts as federal authorities continue expanding security infrastructure and public institutions across liberated areas. Officials say investments in permanent police facilities are intended to consolidate security gains, strengthen local governance, and support long-term stability in Galgadud region.
