Washington, D.C. (Lamaane.net) - The U.S. Department of Defense said Saturday that coordinated U.S.–Israeli airstrikes targeted military and regime-linked sites across Iran under the operation name "Epic of Rage," marking one of the broadest reported cross-border actions in recent months. Explosions were reported in Tehran, Isfahan, Tabriz and Bushehr, according to Iranian media and U.S. officials.
A senior U.S. defense official told CNN the strikes were "precision-focused on military objectives and infrastructure associated with the regime,” declining to provide further operational details. In Tehran, semi-official outlets including Fars News Agency reported at least seven missile impacts in the Pasteur district, near government compounds and the office of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. ISNA said plumes of smoke were visible over central neighborhoods.
Tasnim News Agency reported that air defense systems were actively engaging what it described as "hostile targets” over Tehran. A government official speaking to Reuters said several ministries in southern Tehran were struck, though no official casualty figures were released.
In a statement to Lamaane News Network, regional security analyst Hussein Majed said the scale of reported strikes "points to a coordinated effort aimed at degrading command-and-control nodes rather than symbolic targets,” adding that "the absence of immediate claims about nuclear facilities suggests calibrated messaging by both sides.”
There has been no independent verification of damage to sensitive installations, including Bushehr’s nuclear power plant. Neither Washington nor Israeli officials publicly outlined follow-up actions, leaving regional governments assessing the risk of escalation.
