Tel Aviv (Lamaane.net) - The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said Saturday that a coordinated air operation in Tehran killed seven senior figures within Iran's defense and security leadership, describing the strike as a targeted action against what it called the country's "security command echelon." Iranian authorities had not publicly confirmed the deaths at the time of publication, and independent verification was not immediately available.
In an official statement, the IDF said fighter aircraft from the Israeli Air Force struck two locations identified by Israeli military intelligence as sites where high-level Iranian officials were gathered. The operation was referred to by Israeli officials as "Operation Roaring Lion.”
Israel identified those allegedly killed as Ali Shamkhani, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council and senior adviser to Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei; Mohammad Pakpour, whom Israel described as Commander-in-Chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC); and Saleh Asadi, identified as head of intelligence for Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters emergency command.
The statement also named Mohammad Shirazi, Chief of the Military Bureau of the Supreme Leader; Aziz Nasirzadeh, Iran’s Minister of Defense and former Air Force commander; Hossein Jabal Amelian, Chairman of the Organization of Defensive Innovation and Research (SPND); and Reza Mozaffari-Nia, SPND’s former chairman.
Israel has previously accused SPND of involvement in advanced weapons development, including projects linked to long-range missile systems and nuclear-related research—allegations Tehran denies, maintaining its defense programs are defensive and peaceful in nature.
Regional security analysts note that, if confirmed, the strike would represent one of the most consequential direct actions against Iran’s senior command structure in recent years, potentially increasing the risk of retaliatory measures and broader instability across the Middle East.
